Every Mercury MerCruiser® and Mercury Diesel inboard and sterndrive conforms to California's emissions regulations. Qualifying engines manufactured during or after 2003 are backed by a three year (or 480 hour) warranty for any defective part that violates the standards of the California Air Resources Board - including the cost to diagnose the failure.
Mercury has an extensive network of factory-trained dealers to help answer any questions you may have. Your authorized Mercury Marine dealer is your "go-to" for all things Mercury.
If your outboard was not registered by your Mercury dealer or retailer, use this tool to complete the registration process to be eligible for warranty coverage. This applies to Avator outboards and batteries, which must be registered separately.
Mercury Product Protection is a factory-backed extended coverage plan, completely administered and backed by Mercury, that can give you up to eight years of worry-free boating with your Mercury outboard or Mercury MerCruiser sterndrive.

Mercury MerCruiser® sterndrives, inboards, and tow sport inboards have a standard limited, non-declining warranty. The length of this warranty depends on the model but can last up to three years. Certain boat brands, whose manufacturers have met the requirements for the Mercury Installation Quality Certification Program, carry an additional year of warranty on the MerCruiser engine.
