Quick Tip: Inspecting Your Prop and Prop Shaft

Two routine drive train inspections will help you stay on the water.

How-To Gear & Tech

Having your boat out of water presents the opportunity to do some critical routine maintenance – like inspecting your prop and prop shaft. While these inspections only require a few minutes of your time, they can help to ensure your boat will run smoothly when it’s time to put it back in the water.

In this Mercury Quick Tip video, our friends at Wired2Fish demonstrate how to properly inspect a prop and prop shaft. These two inspections only require a few minutes of your time and a handful of supplies – supplies that any boat owner should have onboard their vessel. If you run into any issues such as nicks, or other physical damage to the prop, you should consult your nearest Mercury Authorized Dealer for assistance.
