Mercury Racing Powers MTI to Triple Crown Championship

Mercury Racing QC4v sterndrives powered Marine Technology Inc., (MTI) to the 2015 Super Boat International (SBI) National and World Championships as well as the 2015 Class 1 World Championship.

Superboat Unlimited

CMS Motorsports placed first and second overall in the Superboat Unlimited class competition at the 2015 Key West Super Boat International (SBI) World Championships. The week-long event concluded Sunday, November 15 in Key West, Fla.

Team CMS campaigns two boats in the highly competitive Superboat Unlimited class. Both boats are catamaran hulls built by MTI of Wentzville, MO. CMS #3 is a 52-foot hull piloted by team owner Bob Bull (driver) and MTI owner and CEO Randy Scism (throttleman). CMS #03 is a 48-foot hull with veteran offshore racing throttleman John Tomlinson on the sticks with Jeff Harris behind the wheel. Both boats feature Mercury Racing QC4v 1650 RACE sterndrives.  CMS #3 won the SBI Superboat Unlimited World Championship Sunday November 15 while CMS #03 captured the SBI National Championship October 2nd in Clearwater, Fla.

"The winning boats led every lap,” said Team CMS #03 driver Jeff Harris. “A large part of that is the Mercury Racing 1650 engines are so darn reliable - lap after lap - race after race. There simply are no issues and thus why the Mercury QC4vs are so dominant.”

“Our 1650s had three races on them from the National Championships and we ran them all week in Key West as well. Good to go. No issues. They are super dependable and deliver a ton of power," said Bob Bull.

Class 1

Twin Mercury Racing Class 1 Race sterndrives powered Abu Dhabi #6 a MTI catamaran piloted by American offshore racing veterans Gary Ballough (driver) and John Tomlinson (throttles) to win the 2015 Class 1 World Championship. The season finale event took place on the teams' home waters as part of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final event for the 2015 UIM Class 1 World Powerboat season.

Team Abu Dhabi's victory marked the first time in 15 years that a V8 engine has won the Class 1 World Championship.  This is also the first time in over 20 years sterndrive propulsion was behind the title - in a series dominated by shaft drives.
