Mercury Marine’s 8.0 and 9.9s take on exciting new look
Mercury Marine is introducing product upgrades and new styling to their 8hp and 9.9hp FourStroke outboards.
The new styling shows off a contemporary and forward-looking design that aligns with the styling for Mercury’s FourStroke outboard lineup. Mercury outboards are constantly evolving from a styling perspective and this new design reflects that evolution, said John Lasschuit, product manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
In addition to the new styling, a refined fuel system delivers consistent, easy and reliable starting quality and operation, Mercury engineers also made enhancements to the cold starting procedure by incorporating a three position choke system and an ignition timing change improved trolling speed operation.
Mercury’s 8 and 9.9hp line is the broadest in the 8-9.9HP segment with 10 different models in electric and manual start versions.
Four models are available with the Command Thrust drive unit, featuring a low 2.42:1 gear-ratio along with a larger diameter low pitch propeller to push bigger heavier boats more efficiently.
To compliment the line up one model is available with an electro hydraulic power tilt system and a Command Thrust lower unit; this model can be equipped with a patented centering strap system, holding the engine straight in rough water conditions or during trailering if the engine is used in a kicker (spare engine) set up.
All models equipped with a tiller handle feature Mercury multi-function tiller handle, enabling the operator to steer, shift, throttle, stop, tilt and adjust throttle friction with one hand operation.
All 8-9.9hp models are equipped with Mercury’s exclusive manual tilt and trim ratcheting system for added operators’ convenience.
