Mercury Marine named official outboard engine supplier of oceans exploration project Under the Pole IV DEEPLIFE

Mercury is the official engine supplier for the project, providing a 30hp and a 200hp FourStroke outboard to power the team’s tender and rigid inflatable boat as they explore the next legs of their journey in the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas.

“We are excited to partner with Mercury Marine as official engine supplier and to work with the most reliable and trusted outboard engines for the continuous demanding circumstances during the expeditions. We are proud to collaborate together for a better understanding of the oceans and sensibilize the public to the importance to protect it”, said Erwan Marivint, Partnerships and General Coordination UNDER THE POLE

“This partnership with Under The Pole allows Mercury Marine to increase visibility on one of Mercury’s core values: sustainability,” said Massimiliano Mucchietto, VP Sales & Marketing EMEA for Mercury Marine EMEA. “It is also a great opportunity to showcase the benefits and durability of Mercury engines in the most extreme operating conditions. And, thanks to Mercury’s worldwide support and dense dealer network, the exploration team can benefit from high-quality service wherever they are in the world."

Mercury’s all-new 30hp FourStroke outboard launched last year and features a 3-cylinder, 500cc powerhead for exceptional torque and acceleration. Weighing a light and portable 66kg, this outboard's electronic fuel injection (EFI) system provides quick and reliable starting. It is renowned for its quiet and smooth operation. Plus, the version chosen by Under The Pole features an ergonomic multifunctional tiller that can be easily adapted to both left and right-handed riders.

Mercury’s 200hp outboard, also from the versatile FourStroke series, features the famous 3.4L V6 block and is a bestseller in its class, known for its outstanding performance, ergonomics and quiet operation. This engine features advanced technologies that minimize noise, vibration and shudder for an optimal boating experience. Advanced Range Optimization (ARO) optimizes fuel economy to increase range on the water, and Adaptive Speed Control (ASC) maintains engine speed despite changing loads or conditions. With ASC, crossing large swells is easier, and tight maneuvers are smoother.

Under the Pole IV DEEPLIFE 2021-2030, in partnership with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), is dedicated to exploring marine animal forests across the world's ocean basins, from the polar regions to the tropics and temperate regions. The expeditions started in 2022 with the exploration of the Arctic ecosystems, among the most northern in the world in the Svalbard archipelago, before reaching the Canary Islands and their incredible black coral forests. DEEPLIFE explorations continue in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean seas between 2023 and 2024. This fourth program of UNDER THE POLE is worldwilde and supported by the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development 2021 - 2030

UNDER THE POLE decided to choose MERCURY as official supplier to get engines robust, trusted and for the new technologies developed recently. We are proud to collaborate together for a better understanding of the oceans and sensibilize public to the importance to protect it.
